In this digital age, it’s crucial for every business to be using the best technology to market, manage, and improve their product.  Too often, schools see the latest innovations as either too expensive or difficult to use. In reality, there are many ways your school could be using technology to dramatically improve brand awareness and the quality of education you provide.

Tip 1. Post on Social media
Don’t be intimidated: setting up a page can be done in less than an hour.  Once you have your page, it’s a great place to post updates on new courses, congratulate teachers and students on their successes, and to post pictures (with permission) of your happy student body and staff. Being in a school is being in a community, and showing how great your community is online will make students and teachers feel like your school is the place to come and stay.  If you ever run out of ideas for what to post, ask your teachers or other admins. There is always plenty going on in every school if you just look around a little.

Tip 2. Build a great website
If you don’t have a site, you should have one, and if you have an old site, you need to upgrade it.  Luckily there are tons of tools for making beautiful websites quickly.  We’ve added some links below to some great tools to get you started. When creating or upgrading your site, highlight the most important information and make your contact information easily visible.  If your social media sites are ready, you should have all the photos and quotes you’ll need to make your site look great!

Tip 3. Make videos
All you need is a phone and microphone to create appealing videos! You don’t need expensive editing software or a professional editor, just find a staff member who has a little experience or is excited to learn.  Once you have your videos, upload them on Youtube and post links or embeds in your social media and on your site.  The more you make, the better you’ll get!  Record those teacher workshops, staff parties, student celebrations, classroom walk-ins, and share your videos!

Tip 4. Use an effective Learning Management System (LMS)
An LMS is a great way to improve school performance. Be sure to find one that meets your needs, and helps your students and teachers. You’ll want something that offers simple tools to create and manage courses, and metrics that show where you’re doing well and where you can improve.  Your teachers want something that reduces their workload: auto-grading, easy editing, and no extra digital bookkeeping is what they’re looking for.  Your students want something that’s easy to use and interactive with lots of pictures and video.  A mobile app is a huge plus too.
